Rhondda Cynon Taf Groups

Contact and advice line

The Contact and Advice Line is available for all our members in RCT. It is there for members to ask any questions or voice any concerns that they may have regarding their sight loss, or anything related to that. We also have a volunteer led Keep in Touch line which identifies those most isolated and living alone for more regular contact. We aim to call all our members every quarter.

Young at Heart Social Group (RCT)

The Young at Heart Social group (ages range from 30 – 65) offers peer support and regular Zoom and face to face meetings fortnightly on a Friday morning between 11 – 1pm. It is very welcoming and inclusive of new members. Activities on Zoom have included baking, arts and crafts, quizzes, and bingo etc. We have had picnics, taken part in Archery, accessible cycling, and bushcraft sessions. We also welcome guest speakers to the group with advice on transport, technology, welfare rights and general hints and tips for people with sight loss. We work with partner organisations like Cambrian Village Trust, RHA Wales and Transport for Wales on various projects such as cooking, gardening and confident traveller initiatives.

This is what our members said:

“I really enjoyed. I surprised myself and didn’t think it was going to be my thing. The group has made the difference and the need for interaction. I had so much fun I loved being in the group and being part of it. There’s a lot of talent in the group, with different hobbies, interests and passions”.

“I felt connected to the group, I haven’t seen everyone in person for so long and it’s nice to see new faces”.
