Volunteering

Volunteering is an incredibly rewarding experience. It can offer the opportunity to gain new skills and useful life or work experience plus the chance to meet interesting new people. Every day, in so many ways, our passionate, committed volunteers give their time and effort to make an incredible difference to blind and partially sighted people. Without them, we could not provide the services and support we offer.

We have a range of volunteering roles on offer to suit your skills and experience, however much time you can give, you will be making an incredible difference and the impact of your time is immense.

Some volunteer roles will require a police check and all volunteers receive Visual Awareness Induction and Sighted Guiding Training at the outset of their volunteering. You will be made aware of the need for confidentiality when dealing with sensitive and personal information and understand the need to act in a safe and thoughtful manner. You will also receive lots of ongoing support from our friendly staff and other volunteers! You will be covered by our insurance, and we always reimburse agreed travel costs and expenses for any volunteering undertaken for Sight Life.

You can read about some of the volunteering roles, to find out more about our volunteering opportunities, please call Valerie Baynton, Volunteer Development Manager on 02920 398900.
