Trustees

The Board of Trustees are recruited to support the Chief Executive Officer with the leadership of the organisation. They are enlisted for their skills and experience to ensure that Sight Life has the best people in place to oversee and ensure the future direction of the service and implementation of its strategic objectives.

John Sanders - Chair of Trustees

My first contact with Sight Life was in 1998 when I returned to south Wales after working in London for 20 years. Much of the time since then I’ve been a volunteer and a trustee of the charity. Before retiring from paid work I was a journalist, translator and charity manager.

In 2019 I became chairman of the Sight Life board of trustees. I also belong to the charity’s drama and photography groups. I’ve been vision impaired all my life so am well aware of the value of the work done by Sight Life’s dedicated staff, volunteers and trustees.

Susan Sullivan

Having worked for a number of years as a governance manager with the children's charity, Ty Hafan, I was introduced to Sight Life at a time of global change, impacting the Charity’s activities and especially the needs of those we serve.  I was appointed as a trustee in 2021.

Previous roles include working in the private and public sectors, including a Welsh Government funding body, in economic regeneration, working in the steel industry, in the construction industry, with architects and urbanists, largely supporting boards of directors through administration, quality assurance and audit.  I have also acted as company secretary and contributed to committees and steering groups, such as health and safety and information governance.

At Sight Life, I bring my governance experience to the table. I also sit on the risk management group and support policy development.  My goal, however, is to be able to volunteer more, to really understand how Sight Life can make an even bigger difference for the future.

Chris Reddington

I'm Chris, 30 from Cardiff.

I've lived in Cardiff for 7 years now, and throughout all of that time I have seen the fantastic work Sight Life do, both in a professional setting and as a service user.

I have a condition called Anaridia, which means I have no iris in my eye. The iris is the part of the eye that focuses and filters light, making bright environments tricky and distance vision hard.

I have experience in a wide field of areas including Copywriting, customer service and digital content, as well as being fully qualified as an Eye Clinic Liaison.

I'm currently working for Transport for Wales as part of their social media team.

I enjoy gaming, films, astronomy and photography, particularly Astrophotography (photography of the stars). I'm a very creative person, which helps a lot when you have a very wriggly 6 month old baby boy!
