Sight Life, formerly known as Cardiff Institute for the Blind until October 2019, offers a wide range of local services to support blind and partially sighted people across much of South Wales. Our mission is to help people live independent, active, social, and fulfilling lives. Established in 1865, we are one of Wales' oldest charities. We are proud to have rugby legend Sir Gareth Edwards, CBE, as our President, and Wales' renowned female impersonator, Ceri Dupree, as our patron.

On Monday we had our monthly Macular Group meeting and we were joined by members of Cardiff City Council's Physical Disability and Sensory Loss Strategy Engagement team.

Our members took part in surveys and had lengthy discussions surrounding issues regarding sight loss and what could be improved with access and amenities. it was certainly a very busy morning.

Our younger members group were out this week enjoying a session of ten pin bowling and karaoke!

The group had a lot of fun enjoying the activities and socialising.
It is great to see members making friendships and building confidence and accessing activities.

If you would like more information about out Young Peoples Project or would like to volunteer as a sighted guide, please contact Sight Life on 02920 398 900.

We recently had another lovely ramble. We traveled by VEST Community Transport to Rest Bay, Porthcawl, where the weather was warm, sunny and breezy.
We walked along the Coastal Path, enjoying the sounds of the waves along the rocky shoreline, towards Porthcawl esplanade.
We continued onto the Harbour, then down onto Sandy beach.
The tide was quite far out so we had to walk out to have a paddle. The water was lovely and warm.
Our Lunch stop was in the harbour area and we had time to rest and relax before retracing our steps to Rest Bay.
We walked just over five miles and really enjoyed the sea air!

Thank you to John our driver VEST Community Transport for transporting us safely. As always a huge thank you to our volunteer sighted guides, without you we could not run this activity. Thank you from all of us at Sight Life.
