Hello and Welcome to Sight Life

Sight Life, formerly known as Cardiff Institute for the Blind until October 2019, offers a wide range of local services to support blind and partially sighted people across much of South Wales. Our mission is to help people live independent, active, social, and fulfilling lives. Established in 1865, we are one of Wales' oldest charities. We are proud to have rugby legend Sir Gareth Edwards, CBE, as our President, and Wales' renowned female impersonator, Ceri Dupree, as our patron.

Dafydd Trystan Davies! You are amazing! Sight Life are extremely grateful for your support.
Dafydd ran an incredible 160km over a week including London Marathon and the Ras y Bannau Marathon to raise money for work on behalf of Visually Impaired Runners in Wales.
Just to clarify, this was over 52 miles in 48 hours and a large proportion of these miles were not flat either!
Amount raised so far £1989!
An absolutely awesome achievement!

Heart felt thanks to the mighty Mortgage Advice Bureau Foundation for funding the Beautifully Blind Make Up course which ran for 12 weeks and concluded today.
This course empowers blind and partially sighted individuals to take ownership of their make up, in a bespoke manner and to increase their confidence.
This course was an overwhelming success!

Anita, Locality Manager for Swansea, Neath and Port Talbot has started her year of challenges to celebrate 160years of Sight Life!

Her first challenge is to climb 4468 metres, which is the height the first British explorer climbed in 1865. The climb is to be completed in stages by July 14th. Anita completed the first stage by climbing with friends the Sugar Loaf, a mountain overlooking Abergavenny, which is 386 metres. Anita managed the walk independently, with the supportive eyes of friends but also did the descent without boots because the soles fell off on the rockier part! The next stage of the climb will be walking LLangeinor Mountain and Penyfan.

Anita aims to raise £2000 by March next year for Sight Life.
The Challenge for May is for Anita to take part in 6 different V I sports including surfing and bowls.
