Gardening Club

The Gardening Club is one of Sight Life’s many social activity clubs. Meetings are held each Friday morning between 10.30 and 1.00. During the summer months, the club meets primarily at our adapted plot at Rhydypenau Allotments on Lake Road North, Cardiff, but when the frosty nights begin to close in around our sensitive petals, meetings are held at Jones Court, Womanby Street, Cardiff.

We grow vegetables, herbs and a selection of flowers in our raised beds and ground level plots. We annually develop our gardening methods to encompass multiple disabilities. We arrange summer trips to sensory gardens and flower shows, and we also run shopping trips to garden centres. The Gardening Club belongs to the members and is run by the members. We all help to decide on the choice of plants we grow and the places we go.

We invite professional and experienced gardeners to give talks and run Gardener’s Question Time style sessions. There are opportunities to try out adapted tools and gardening aids and members can exchange tips and ideas. Most importantly of all, Gardening Club members have the chance to meet up with a group of people who share an interest in the world of gardening.

So, whether you have a large garden or just enjoy looking after your house plants, you would be most welcome to join us.  For more information, please contact us on Cardiff 029 2039 8900 and we will try to ensure that your garden grows with a hoe, hoe, hoe!
