My main role at Sight Life is helping people with assistive technology like mobile phones, tablets and computer accessibility. This could be something as simple as finding another way for someone to answer their smartphone if they struggle to see the screen or a more complex situation of teaching them to be able to access the internet using screen reader keyboard shortcuts / gestures.
In 2010 I began volunteering at Cardiff Institute for the Blind for two days a week in the computer training room at Shand house. When a member of staff retired before we left Shand house I applied for and was lucky enough to be given the position. Before this I worked for a broadcast video equipment company that dealt with video editing equipment, animation controllers and museum audio visual displays and after that a casino gaming company that made automated roulette machines.
A lot of my spare time is taken up with dancing, mostly Salsa with some Bachata and a little Kizomba.
