Roy comes clean for Sight Life!

2 September 2020

Roy Measday, 73, of Port Talbot is feeling the cold a little bit more these days after shaving off his lockdown beard to raise funds for Sight Life. After a stroke six and a half years ago, Roy received support and advice from Sight Life. When the pandemic hit, Roy had to shield – and decided that if he wasn’t able to go out then he wasn’t going to shave either!

Throughout lockdown, he has been joining Sight Life’s telephone support groups several times a week. He’s joined sessions including seated yoga, seated exercise and confidence building as well as the general chat calls. When shielding was lifted, Roy decided that it was time to come clean – and to raise some money for Sight Life in the process.

On 20th August, Roy visited Barrie’s of Baglan and his beard was history!  Roy said: ‘I shaved it off so no one would recognise me!’. His wife, Heather, said: ‘I am really thankful for the support you have given us through lockdown’. So far, Roy has raised £400.00 for Sight Life, and he hopes his Just Giving page will raise even more.
